SJA School of the Arts

St. Joseph Academy is inviting the community to a free sampler of the classes which will be offered this summer as part of their SJA School of the Arts program. The open house event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at the school, 51 W. Jackson Street in downtown Joliet.

Adults and children will have the opportunity to try their hand at different instruments, basic dance, and theatre arts. The day will conclude with a “jam session,” involving the teachers, students, and visitors who have just had their first lesson.

Among the courses to be offered are introductory and advanced classes in vocal and instrumental music, including guitar, piano, brass, woodwind and percussion; beginning dance, drama and improv. Both private and group sessions are available for children and adults. Several professional musicians, dance educators and dramatists will be teaching the summer sessions, as well as throughout the academic year.

St. Joseph Academy is a private, independent school in downtown Joliet for children preschool through eighth grade. Registration for the Montessori preschool/kindergarten, the elementary school, and the School of the Arts, as well as the St. Joseph Academy Summer Camp, is ongoing. Call Jan Novotny at 815-723-4567 for additional information or to register for any of the St. Joseph Academy programs.
