12u Illinois Celtics Bring Home Champaign Fathers Day Bash Title

The 12u Illinois Celtics (26-16-1) outlasted a field of 12 teams and brought home the Champaign Father's Day Bash Title. The Celtics won 5 close and exciting games (7-6 to Peoria Limestone Rockets; 14-11 to Danville Chiefs; 14-6 to Champaign Stix; 5-3 to Danville Chiefs in semi-final; and 6-4 to Champaign Tribe in Championship game). Beau Saunoris and Dennis Avalos led the hitting attack with 7 hits, Ryan McWilliams had 6 hits and 7 rbi, Zach Carlsen had 5 hits and 2 wins on the mound, Jack Cohrs also had 5 hits and 6 rbi, and Zack Landy and Skyler Schulteis had 4 hits a piece. Danny Gross caught nearly every inning in 95 degree heat & contributed 5 rbi, while Andrew Traven and Elliott Johannes pitched in with 6 combined rbi and 2 safety suicide bunts.
The big story was the pitching performance by Tommy Piekarz. Tommy pitched in 4 games, giving up 0 runs in 9.3 innings, striking out 8, winning 2 games and saving another 2 games. Tommy struck out the #4 batter with a runner on to close the tourney. Excellent job this weekend boys!
