District 7 rep has served on Board since 2008

JOLIET, IL – Will County Board minority leader Walter Adamic (D-Joliet) has named Diane Seiler-Zigrossi (D-Lockport) to the leadership post of minority whip. The post was previously held by Frank Stewart who died last month.

“Diane has a wealth of experience in business and banking, and has long been involved in her community by serving on the Lockport City Council and school board as well as numerous other boards and alliances,” said Adamic. “Her ability to reach across the aisle and practically solve problems makes her well suited to this position. I look forward to working with her to continue ensuring that Will County is a great place to live and work.”

Diane Seiler-Zigrossi was elected to the board in 2008 to serve the constituents of District 7. Currently she serves on the executive committee, finance committee, public health & safety committee, storm water management committee and most recently served as the Vice-Chair of the County’s re-apportionment committee. In 2011 she was appointed to the National Association of Counties Human Services and Education Steering Committee which deals with issues involving immediate and long-range welfare reform, income maintenance, older Americans, community action, food stamps, rights of the handicapped, de-institutionalization, low-income energy assistance, illegal aliens, refugees, domestic violence, and administration of county welfare programs.

“I am honored to be selected for this leadership post,” said Seiler-Zigrossi. “In my new position as minority whip, I will continue to work with my colleagues to responsibly govern Will County. I look forward to the added responsibilities, and my dedication to giving voice to the concerns of all residents will not diminish.”

In her role on the public health & safety committee, Diane has worked tirelessly to ensure accessible county-wide transportation for individuals with disabilities as well as seniors. She has been actively involved in efforts to secure grant money to fund paratransit services throughout Will County. Just last year, the board was given the green light to pursue grant funding from the Regional Transportation Authority.

Diane is involved in several community organizations including the Rotary Club of Lemont-Homer Glen, the Homer Township Chamber of Commerce, having served as a Past President. She is on the Board of Directors and the Legislative Internship Advisory Committee for the Will-Grundy Center for Independent Living. Diane served as Past President of the Rotary Club of Lockport, an Asst. District Governor for Rotary District 6450, and is a past board member of the Lockport Chamber of Commerce, and the ACA.

In 2005, Seiler-Zigrossi founded Seiler Business and Financial Consultants after working professionally in the banking industry for 28 years. She is married to her husband Tim and together they share in the joy of their children and grandchildren.
