Bringing the Prairie Home

On April 5, 2012, Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie will hold the next lecture in our series, “Bringing the Prairie Home.” Our guest speaker will be Patricia Armstrong, a long-time member of the Native Plant Society, who will share her knowledge on why we should bring the prairie home. Join us as Pat will talk about using native plants, shrubs and trees to attract birds, butterflies, and other wildlife to your outdoor retreat. Learn how to use these beautiful plants in your landscaping, in addition to saving energy and money by not having to mow or water your lawn. You can even “dine on your prairie garden!”
The lecture is FREE of charge and we will meet at the Headquarters Building located 2 miles North of Wilmington, Illinois at 30239 S. State Route 53. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the lecture will begin at 7:00 PM.
Reservations are recommended and should be made by April 5, 2012 either via e-mail at Midewin_RSVP@fs.fed.us or by calling 815/423-6370. Walk-ins are welcome, however seating cannot be guaranteed without a reservation. Complimentary beverages will be provided by the Midewin Alliance.
