Shorewood man rappels 27 stories in downtown Chicago for lung health

Brendan Moran of Shorewood was among 90 people who stepped over the edge 278 feet above State and Lake Streets in Skyline Plunge! Chicago on May 5 and 6. Courageous participants rappelled 27 stories down theWit Hotel to raise more than $120,000 for Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago’s local lung disease research and programs.

Many people participate in Skyline Plunge! Chicago for the thrill of it, but more than two-thirds also have a personal connection to the event. Brendan rappelled with friends in the group "Ron's Raging Repellers," in honor of Ronald Hutton of Coal City. Ronald is currently fighting stage 4 lung cancer and his daughter, Ronette Ksiazak, also of Coal City, put together a team to raise funds in his name.

Skyline Plunge! will return to Chicago on September 8 and 9, 2012. Register, donate or learn more at
