No major flooding as storms begin to move out

No major flooding was reported in the Chicago area this morning after rumbling storms dumped more than 2 inches of rain in some spots, but a flash flood warning remains in effect for Kankakee, Grundy and LaSalle counties.

No serious traffic accidents have been reported on expressways, though there were reports of flooding on the Kennedy, according to the state police.

The most rain fell in McHenry and Lake counties and in areas south of Interstate 80. Peotone recorded 2.36 inches, Burr Ridge 1.99 inches, Flossmoor 1.86 inches, St. Charles 1.61 inches, and O’Hare International Airport 1.28 inches, according to the Chicago Weather Center.
