Three men stole jewelry in front of elderly woman in her own home, and more

These arrests were taken from Joliet Police arrest information, as well as information from the Will County Adult Detention Facility, Will County Circuit Clerk’s Office and Will County Sheriff’s Police reports.

Five Charged in Burglary

A 20-year-old Joliet man convicted of burglarizing a Joliet residence in March 2009 and a 21-year-old Crest Hill man serving two concurrent 36-month suspended sentences from September 2011 convictions for robbery, aggravated battery and theft in Joliet were among five persons arrested in connection with the April 26 burglary of a home on the 1300 block of Roosevelt Avenue. The home reportedly was broken into after the resident was lured away. Bail was set at $100,000 for the Joliet parolee from the 100 block of South Hunter Avenue, the Crest Hill man and a 21-year-old Joliet man from the 200 block of South Pleasant Street. Bail was set at $50,000 for a 19-year-old Joliet woman from the 300 block of Romayne Avenue and a 22-year-old Rockdale woman from the 700 block of Howard Street. All five are scheduled to appear in court May 18 for a preliminary hearing.

Money Laundering Alleged

A 49-year-old Hoffman Estates woman and a 51-year-old Hanover Park woman have been charged with “laundering” more than $10,000 in connection with an April 27 garage sale on the 2200 block of Falcon Drive. Each is free on $10,000 bail.

Robbery Charges

A 19-year-old Romeoville man serving a two-year suspended sentence on an April 2011 criminal sexual abuse conviction was arrested April 26 by Romeoville Police on a warrant charging him with robbery, aggravated battery and theft on March 4 in Joliet. The resident of the 1900 block of Somerset Court is scheduled to appear in court May 15 and remained in the Adult Detention Facility May 2 in lieu of $25,000 bail. The sex-abuse offense occurred in April 2010 in unincorporated Will County.

Failur-To-Report Crash Charge

A 52-year-old Manhattan man was charged with one count of failing to report a personal injury crash, one count of aggravated battery in a public place and one count of causing collision resulting in injury or death. The resident of the 200 block of East North Street was taken into custody April 26 by Joliet Police on the charges, which stems from an alleged April 21 incident in Joliet.

Jailed for Aggravated Battery

A 25-year-old Joliet woman from the 500 block of West Jefferson Street is scheduled to appear in court May 22 on a charge of aggravated battery stemming from an alleged Feb. 25 incident in Joliet.

Home Invasion

An elderly resident of the 0-100 block of Independence Avenue told Sheriff’s Police on April 28 that three men entered the home while her daughter was briefly away and stole jewelry. The complainant said she tried to get up from her chair but the men told her to stay seated and took her phone away.

Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer

Will County Sheriff’s Police say a deputy working with the Cooperative Police Assistance Team sustained a knee injury April 23 while arresting a 23-year-old suspected drug dealer. Police said the deputy was at the rear of the driver’s side of the suspect’s car when he was hit by the driver’s open door as the suspect put the car into reverse in an attempt to escape arrest at a carwash bay on the 1600 block of South Chicago Street. The suspect, a resident of the 700 block of Jasper Street, is scheduled to be arraigned May 16 on one count of aggravated battery to a peace officer, three counts of selling 30-500 grams of cannabis and one count of selling 10-30 grams of cannabis.

Ruse Burglary

Jewelry and cash was reported missing April 25 from a home on the 16000 block of Gaylord Road by an elderly resident who said a man she didn’t know approached her while she was raking leaves and persuaded her to accompany him into her backyard. The man reportedly coaxed the complainant to the back fence. After a short conversation the man walked to her driveway, entered a tan Jeep Cherokee and drove away.


Five pallets of mold parts and stamping plates were reported taken April 24 from a construction supply business on the 23200 block of Youngs Road. Sheriff’s Police said the overhead garage door had been forced open and a floor pallet jack inside the building was used to move the material to the edge of the property.

Criminal Damage to Property

A window was reported damaged April 30 in a storage building at a fertilizer business on the 23500 block of West Bluff Road.

A section of security fence was reported cut April 27 at a petroleum company property on the 25900 block of South Frontage Road East.


A U.S. flag and its pole were reported taken April 23 from a home on the 1800 block of Sunrise Lane.

Five pieces of mail were reported taken April 26 from a private mailbox on the 2600 block of Chevy Chase Drive.
