Man, 83, reported $5,000 missing after backyard utility ruse, and more

These arrests were taken from Will County Sheriff’s Police reports released March 27.

Ruse Burglary

  • An 83-year-old resident of the 1100 block of South Briggs Street reported March 19 he had discovered $5,000 missing from his home after returning from his backyard where he had been detained 10 minutes by a man posing as a ComEd employee needing to inspect a utility pole.

Endangering Life

  • A 31-year-old man, 32-year-old man and 26-year-old woman – all of the 1300 block of Sterling Avenue in Joliet - were arrested March 25 at their home for endangering the life of a child. The two men were also held on active Will County warrants.

Theft Attempt

  • Employees at a tool-sales business on the 1600 block of New Lenox Road reported on March 22 that a rooftop air conditioning unit vent grill had been removed and a PVC air-conditioning drain pipe was damaged. The offense was discovered by an employee responding to the sound of someone walking on the roof around 11 a.m.

DUI

  • A 38-year-old Joliet woman from the 2700 block of Misty Brook Lane was arrested March 24 for DUI and ticketed for driving too fast for conditions and operating an uninsured motor vehicle during a traffic stop at Maple Road and Violetta Avenue.
  • A 21-year-old Joliet woman from the 400 block of South Briggs Street was arrested March 24 for DUI, speeding and making an improper turn during a traffic stop at Black Road and Larkin Avenue. Her passenger, a 24-year-old Joliet man from the 400 block of Columbia Street, was ticketed for illegal transportation of alcohol and not wearing a seat belt.
  • A 34-year-old Joliet man from the 1100 block of Ridgewood Avenue was arrested for DUI and driving without a valid license and ticketed for driving without headlights and operating an uninsured motor vehicle during a traffic stop at Cass Street and Hebbard Avenue.
  • A 28-year-old Lockport man was arrested March 22 for DUI and ticketed for speeding and not wearing a seat belt during a traffic stop on Essington Road at Vimy Ridge Drive.

Drug-Related

  • A 35-year-old Joliet woman from the 1400 block of Dickens Street was arrested March 22 for possession of a controlled substance during a traffic stop at Cass Street and Pickwick Road for improper lane use and driving without a seatbelt.
  • A 29-year-old Lemont man was arrested March 20 for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a steroid during a police contact at Northwest Circle Drive and Washington Street.

Motor Vehicle Burglary

  • A GPS unit, ceramic brake pads, and a Brita water filter were reported taken March 23 from an unlocked vehicle on the 25000 block of West Tow Path Lane.
  • A GPS was reported taken March 21 from an unlocked vehicle on the 2400 block of Nuclear Drive.

Auto Part Theft

  • The left front tire was reported taken March 24 from a vehicle parked on the 2400 block of Grape Street. The complainant reported finding the 2009 Chevy HHR jacked up and the tire gone.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

  • Every window but the windshield was reported smashed March 24 on a vehicle parked on the 200 block of North Hebbard Avenue.
