Will County seeks public’s help as it prepares for 175th birthday

As Will County makes plans to  celebrates its 175th birthday,  officials are seeking public input on how to mark the historic occasion.

The Will County Historic Alliance is asking people to contribute photos, stories and other artifacts related to the history of the county, which has evolved from rural farmland to the suburban, commercial community it is today.

Submissions will be compiled onto a DVD, which will acknowledge each contributor. Digital submissions are preferred, but physical items may also be submitted, officials said.

On a side note, this year is also the 175th anniversary of the Illinois and Michigan Canal, which broke ground on July 4, 1836.
