Huntley Eagle Scout Helps Grafton Food Pantry

Grafton Food Pantry President Kathy Schneiter and Eagle Scout Mason Gennardo

Grafton Food Pantry President Kathy Schneiter and Eagle Scout Mason Gennardo

(Huntley, IL) June 22, 2012 Mason Gennardo of Huntley was in search of a project to qualify for his Eagle Scout level. On this 100th anniversary of Eagle Scouts, he knew he had to find a very special project that demonstrated his leadership skills and benefitted the community. This was no easy task since only 1% of Scouts reach this coveted level of excellence.

Mason answered the challenge and went above and beyond the requirements! He immediately thought of the Grafton Food Pantry where he had volunteered in the past. He noticed that the receptacle boxes were in dire need of repair or replacement. With the generous donations of local businesses, especially the Algonquin Home Depot, Mason and 25 volunteers built five newly designed receptacle boxes for the pantry. They are proudly on display at the Grafton Food Pantry, 12191-B Smith Drive, Huntley; Citizen Bank Huntley; Harris Bank North, Huntley; Huntley Area Public Library; and Huntley Park District.

Grafton Food Pantry, a 501 (c ) (3), is located off Kreutzer Drive at 12191-B Smith Drive in Huntley. They are supported solely by donations. For further information or to volunteer, call 847 495-0923.
