Regional Competition Champions Announced for Annual Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge

On Saturday, November 5, 2011, the St. Mary of Huntley Knights of Columbus Council sponsored the Regional Soccer Challenge Competition for the annual Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge at the Tomaso Sports Park in Huntley. The Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge is sponsored annually by local Knights of Columbus Councils, with local winners progressing through district, regional and state competitions. National and International champions are announced by the K of C international headquarters based in New Haven, CT, on scores from state level competitions.
At the Regional Competition Gold Medals were awarded to the Champions who earned the right to compete at the state level.
In the boys competition the Gold Medal Winners were AJ Leidig for the 10 year old bracket, Luke P. Salamon for the 11 year old bracket, Luke Weber for the 12 year old bracket, Nick Stanek for the 13 year old bracket and Alex Vonderhaar won the 14 year old bracket.
The girls Gold Medal Winners were Mackenzie Kobrick in the 10 year old bracket, Maria Smith in the 11 year old bracket, Dana Taylor in the 12 year old bracket, Brianna Berillo in the 13 year old bracket. There were no competitors in the 14 year old bracket.
The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.7 million members in over 13,000 local councils. Last year, Knights donated 68 million volunteer hours and $151million in charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.
