HHS senior selected to national band ensemble

A Huntley High School band student has been selected to play the flute during an upcoming performance at the nation’s capital.

Madi Bartot — the only student selected from Illinois — will join 71 other high school students from throughout the country June 24 to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington.

The students were selected to the All-National Honor Concert Band by the National Association for Music Education. A total of 300 high school students were selected to join the concert band, orchestra, mixed choir and jazz band ensembles.

Madi is a member of the Huntley High School band under the direction of Nick Konwerski.

The trip includes four days of rehearsals with renowned conductors.
