Maple School Boy’s Volleyball Team Wins Conference Tournament Championship

Wins Conference Tournament Championship!

On Tuesday, April 14, 2009, Maple School’s eighth grade volleyball team won the two-day Central Suburban Middle School Conference Tournament! The first day involved pool play, with the top two teams in each five-team pool advancing to the semi-finals on Wednesday. During pool play, Maple beat Gemini 2 games to 0. They then played Wilmette and won 2-0. Their third match was against Northbrook Junior High, where they split 1-1. 

Their final pool match was against Shepard, where they again won 2-0. Maple ended the day on Tuesday, as the first seed for their division with a 7-1 pool play record. Northbrook Junior High also advanced from their pool.  In the other pool, Springman won with Wood Oaks advancing.
On Wednesday in the semi-finals, Maple started off by playing Wood Oaks, where they won the best-of-three games match in two games.  Maple advanced to the championship game against Springman. In the championship game, Maple won the first game.  Springman beat Maple in the second game, sending the championship to a third and final game. 

In that game, Maple came out strong for a big win and took the conference tournament championship home to Maple, exclaimed coach Ryan Schaben.

Maples regular volleyball season record was 11-2.  The 12 team members include team captains: Mike Jang and Bradley Margolin, Cody Bolan, Daniel Cohen, Jason Doppelt, James Kim, Kevin Kuncheria, Corey Lenhoff, Kevin Mathein, David Panitch, Ricky Poulton, John Suh.
