Village of Glen Ellyn Announces New Economic Development Coordinator

Glen Ellyn, IL – The Village of Glen Ellyn will start a new era this summer with the appointment of a new Economic Development Coordinator. Martha Corner, previously with the city of Elmhurst, IL has been named to lead Economic Development efforts for the Village of Glen Ellyn.

Ms. Corner brings with her 12 years of municipal economic development experience while serving the City of Elmhurst, the Village of Arlington Heights and the Village of Northbrook. In her positions with these communities, Corner championed several efforts including the initiation of several successful marketing strategies, coordination of special events and meetings, development of magazine advertising in commercial and economic development publications, production of tourism and real estate marketing brochures, and has directed branding initiatives over multiple media such as cable television, newspapers and the Internet.

Ms. Corner is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Illinois and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). She also holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Economics from the University of Akron, and a Master’s of Urban Planning degree from the University of Oregon.

The newly created Glen Ellyn position will allow Ms. Corner to manage the daily economic development activities which include working with current and prospective businesses, collaborating with developers and real estate brokers, and coordinating economic development activities that contribute to the vibrancy and vitality of the Village’s commercial districts. Corner is looking forward to building relationships with business owners, colleagues, community groups, and the numerous boards and commissions that make Glen Ellyn such a wonderful place to live, work, and visit.

Ms. Corner’s top priorities for the position include revitalizing economic development communication efforts with current and prospective businesses, developing new tools and resources for business and property owners, working alongside other departments to promote the Village’s new Economic Incentive Guidelines, and collaborating with other Village organizations to promote the sustainability of the Village’s commercial and retail climate.
