12th Annual Hoof It for Hephzibah Raises $50,000

Kids from Ben Franklin school in Glen Ellyn celebrate winning the “Battle of Schools” competition at Hoof It For Hephzibah.

June 1, 2012 – Glen Ellyn, Ill. – Runners battled the heat on Memorial Day Monday during the 12th Annual Hoof It for Hephzibah 5K fun run in Glen Ellyn. Approximately 600 runners participated in the race this year which started and finished at Newton Park.

Harry Benson from Elmhurst recorded the fastest time for males at 17 minutes 55 seconds. Lindsay Graham from Lombard recorded the fasted time for females at 20 minutes 42 seconds. 100 kids participated in the “Hop It” races which included 50 yard dash and ¼ mile races.

$50,000 was raised for Hephzibah Children’s Association by runners and sponsors of the event. Hephzibah’s diagnostic shelter and residence provides care for severely abused children throughout the state, as well as a wide range of family support programs including day care, foster care and adoption services.
