Congressional Art Awards

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is a juried art competition and an opportunity to recognize and support the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in each congressional district.

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students, and the overall winner of each district is displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.

The 2012 winner for Peter Roskam’s 6th district is Dan Cycenas(Wheaton) with “Night Light”. Apart from being recognized for their outstanding piece of work, the winner in each congressional district may also be eligible to take part in a reception in Washington, DC, through a pact with Southwest Airlines.

The 2012 Honorable Mention for Randy Hultgren’s 14th district went to Anna Morrello (West Chicago)for her piece "Turning Point".
