College of DuPage and Faculty Negotiating Teams Reach Agreement

The College of DuPage and full-time faculty negotiating teams reached an agreement on Friday night on all terms, which the faculty negotiating team will recommend for ratification by the COD full-time faculty. Pending that ratification, COD President Robert L. Breuder will recommend the contract to the COD Board of Trustees at its June 18, 2012 meeting.

At its May 10, 2012 meeting, the Board of Trustees had approved a best and final offer to the full-time faculty. If the teams could not reach any other agreement, the College planned to impose the terms of the Best and Final offer on May 28. The College and the faculty have been in negotiations for the past 14 months. This has included more than 30 sessions and more than 100 hours of negotiations.

“We are very pleased to have reached agreement on this contract with our full-time faculty,” COD President Robert L. Breuder said. “We believe this is a fair and competitive contract for our faculty that is fiscally responsible to the taxpayers. I appreciate all the hard work and commitment that both teams have demonstrated throughout this process and look forward to working together going forward.”

The agreement provides compromise on issues including summer pay, health insurance and the amount paid for different teaching methods.
