Xfinity Home Takes Digital Home Monitoring To New Level

Protect and monitor your home, control the temperature, turn the lights on and off –
and do a host of other home management activities – from home or away, 24/7

Comcast today announced the launch of XFINITY® Home in the Chicago area and a variety of communities in central and northern Illinois, northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan.

In addition to offering traditional home-security services, such as police and fire alarm protection backed by 24/7 professional monitoring, XFINITY Home incorporates a host of home management capabilities. Using XFINITY Home, users can do things like adjust their digital thermostats, turn some of their lights on or off and even watch secure live streaming video from wireless cameras – from home or away, 24/7.

“XFINITY Home brings digital home monitoring to a new level,” said Mitch Bowling, Comcast’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of New Businesses. “XFINITY Home comes with a range of broadband-based technologies that empower users to stay connected to their homes from virtually anywhere at any time.”

To this end, users can manage all of their XFINITY Home components via a tablet-like touchscreen that’s available with the system, as well as via the XFINITY Home Portal (customers can log in at www.XFINITY.com/home) or through the XFINITY Home apps, which are available for free on Apple’s iTunes App Store®. In addition, users can create personalized settings for a variety of functions. For example, users can program the system to send real-time email or text alerts when doors open or close, when motion detectors sense activity occurring inside or outside the home and in a variety of other instances.

Sensors and detectors currently available with XFINITY Home include: door and window sensors; glass break sensors; motion sensors; water sensors (for basements, bathrooms and laundry rooms); and smoke detectors. Indoor and indoor/outdoor cameras; keychain remotes; lighting and appliance modules; thermostats; and wireless keypads also are available with the system. Carbon monoxide detectors will be available soon.

XFINITY Home packages are available from $29.95 to$49.95 per month. XFINITY Home customers also may be eligible to receive up to a 20 percent discount on their homeowners’ insurance. Comcast is also offering free installation (a $500 value) for new local Preferred Home Security customers who place their orders by 6/30/2012. This offer is not available in all areas and some restrictions may apply. A minimum three-year agreement is required. In addition, we are offering $299 installation (a $900 value) for new local Premier Home Security customers through 6/30/12.
