Valentines for Veterans

At St. Matthew Parish school,in Glendale Heights, it has become a tradition to honor our veterans by the whole school coming together to make valentines for veterans during Catholic schools week. This year we were very lucky to have two recruiting sargeants accompany one of our veterans for our event, as well as the mayor. We began by saying the pledge of allegiance and then having each line explained to us. The sargeants also spoke to the children explaining how the soldiers feel while away from their homes and then had time to talk to the children as they walked around and joined in on the fun. We are so lucky to be living in a country that is free and we can't think of a better way to tell our servicemen, both past and present, how much we
appreciate their service to our country. A truly wonderful day was had by all!!!
