Ed Posh Scholars 2011

ED POSH SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCES 4 NEW SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2011
Since 1995 we have provided nearly $460,000 in scholarships to 66 Posh Scholars and 49 have graduated. In 2011 there will be 16 scholars in school collectively receiving $40,000 in assistance.
Cass Hoffmeister, chairman of the scholarship committee announced the four new 2011 scholars, saying “It was a pleasure meeting so many well qualified candidates. Selecting the final four was a difficult task.”

The new scholars for 2011 are:

John Filip: a senior at Glenbard South High School, will attend Carroll University and is seeking a degree in Actuarial Science.
Michael Norton: also a senior at Glenbard South, will attend the University of Illinois to pursue a degree in Business/Social Policy.
Cassandra Powers: a senior from Glenbard West High School, will attend Hope College to study Occupational Therapy with a minor in Spanish.
Joanna Szewczyk: also a senior at Glenbard West, plans to pursue a career in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Illinois.

The Ed Posh Scholarship Fund was established in honor of Ed Posh, the first head golf professional at the Village Links in Glen Ellyn. Through the years, Ed has created an environment for golfers of all levels to learn and enjoy the game of golf.

The Scholarship Fund raises funds through donations and the annual ED POSH SHOOTOUT GOLF SCRAMBLE TOURNAMENT & DINNER PARTY, to be held this year on Friday July 15th at the Village Links Golf Course. 100 % of the net proceeds of this fundraising event go to the scholarship fund. The organizers and members of the board are all local volunteers. Over the years the ED POSH SHOOTOUT has become a premier local fundraising event. Golf, an outstanding dinner under the stars (in a specially erected tent) music, dancing, auctions, prizes, along with the exciting SHOOTOUT itself, are among the many attractions of this event.
Please call the Village Links GC (630-469-8180) to sign up for golf, dinner or both! Further information is available at our website www.edposhscholarship.com
