Big week for local therapeutic riding school

Saturday, May 21, marked both the annual fundraising Ride-a-Thon for the Friends for Therapeutic Equine Activities (FTEA, www.ftea.org) at Danada Equestrian Center and FTEA’s national TV debut on NBC’s LXTV: 1st Look, Saturday night at midnight and again Sunday morning.

And as if that weren’t enough, The FTEA staff, volunteers and student riders will be demonstrating their activities at the St. James Farm Homecoming. The Homecoming event marks the beginning of summer fun at one of the DuPage County Forest Preserve’s newest locations. FTEA has joined the other equestrian groups exhibiting at the Homecoming for all three years the Farm has been open to the public.

After all that excitement, no one would be surprised if the FTEA staff and volunteers slept for a week. But after the long weekend, they’ll be back to work teaching students again ... and those horses need to be fed, watered, exercised, and get their stalls mucked out every day.
