Local business experts at Downers Grove realtor group

Attorney Bill Price of spoke about how organizing corporate structures for real estate ownership provides opportunities for professionals to purchase rather than rent office space in the March 12 morning meeting on Business Resources and Strategies hosted by MORe, the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors. Three other local businesspeople rounded out his panel on business opportunities. Bob Brackett of Crandall & Brackett, Ltd. (Wheaton, spoke about setting a value on businesses. Mary Los of 5/3 Bank covered various SBA financing options, explaining how the SBA works with banks like 5/3 to make money available to businesses. Ellen Huxtable of Advantage Business Concepts (Batavia, recommended taking a fresh look at how you do business, to see how changes in the marketplace can become opportunities for you.

The four speakers on the other panel of the morning outlined how start-up and smaller businesses can find the Small Business Resources they need. Dave Gay, Manager of the COD SBDC, reviewed the free services his SBDC can offer area businesses. Hillary Burkinshaw, Director of CenterPoint at Governors State University, told listeners about the federal governments SBA loan programs available to help businesses get access to financing. Luanne Mayorga, Program Manager for the Illinois International Trade Center, explained how the center can help Illinois businesses make contact with international markets. Josh Grodzin, Director of Economic Development at Choose DuPage, explained how his organization helps businesses that want to move to or expand in DuPage County.
