Siblings charged in Roosevelt Road business burglaries

Glen Ellyn police arrested a brother and sister from South Holland accused of smashing the front windows and doors of two salons and a restaurant on Roosevelt Road and robbing them of cash and electronics.

According to police statement released Wednesday, Kenneth W. Silva, 45, and his sister Renee M. Silva, 43, both of 15571 Rose Drive in South Holland, were arrested on Monday in connection with the robberies following a traffic stop.

An officer found more than $1,700 in cash in Kenneth Silva’s pockets after ticketing him for allegedly driving without a valid driver’s license, police said.

“The officer found additional evidence inside Silva’s car that linked him to the businesses,” according to the police press release. No further details were released. A police department spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment.

Kenneth Silva has been charged with three counts of burglary and two counts of theft and is being held in the DuPage County Jail. No bond has been set yet for him.

Renee Silva has been charged with two counts of theft and is being held in lieu of $2,500 bail.
