South suburban track standouts excel at state meet

The TribLocal area South suburban schools produced an individual and a relay team state champion May 19 at the Illinois High School Association Track and Field state meet in Charleston.
Lincoln-Way East junior Aaliyah Brown won the 200 dash in 24.18 seconds. Brown has won four individual titles in three years of state competition.
Bolingbrook’s 4×100 team was crowned champion as senior Rosemary Onyeguble, freshman Jessica Watkins, seniors Kym Taylor and Kim Azie won with a :46.58.
Lincoln-Way East, the Class 3A state runner up in 2011, finished fourth with 35.5 points while Plainfield North and Bolingbrook tied for eighth with Belleville East with 22 points each.

Class 3A

Bolingbrook:Azie took fourth in the 100 and ninth in the 200 and senior Kayla Bell claimed fifth in the triple jump.

Lincoln-Way East: Brown finished in second place in the 100 dash, the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams took second place, freshman Julia Junkroski tied for seventh in the high jump and also finished 12th in the pole vault.

Lockport: Senior Krista Nauseda was seventh in the pole vault and senior Megan O’Brien was eighth in the 3200 and 12th in the 1600.

Plainfield North: Senior Jaclyn Aremka took third in the high jump and junior Cessily Jones was third in the 100 and fourth in the 200 while the 4×200 relay team was eighth.

Class 2A
Lincoln-Way West:
Senior Kaitlyn Neiseisel was fourth in the pole vault and fourth in the high jump. Senior Abby Hedlin was ninth in the high jump.
