Mary Lou Smith, owner of Top of the Tracks coffee shop and restaurant, located on the 2nd floor of the Central Street Train Station, at Green Bay Road and Central Street in Evanston is looking forward to Thursday night, April 14th at the Top of the Tracks. Mrs. Smith, the morning hello and 'coffee and roll' for thousands of commuters throughout each week for the past 23 years at the Evanston Central Street Train Station is having the April 14th shopping night and is attempting to help out some other women getting started in their businesses. Smith said she is hoping to raise 'a little money' for the EPL Friends "Mighty Twig" volunteer library programs for the new 'branch' located at 900 Chicago Avenue in South Evanston. Top of the Tracks' Smith is sponsoring the evening on Thursday, April 14th with a group of traveling merchants, and the EPL Friends will be selling ceramic garden pots donated by River Market Pottery at the 2nd Floor Train Station event too.

Mrs. Smith took a few moments last week to talk to a new customer, Ms. Kitty Crisham of Winnekta, and to one of her long term customers, Ms. Ginnie Russell of Evanston (Photo by Mary Felish of Wilmette). "I just wanted to let them know we're having a raffle the week of April 14th for a few items and all the raffle proceeds will go to help the EPL Friends program to benefit "The Mighty Twig", " explained Mrs. Smith.

Admission to the Top of the Tracks April 14th 'Retail Therapy' evening from 5:00 pm until 9:00 p.m. with 'traveling merchants' is free. The Top is located at 1826 Central Street, Evanston. The 'Top' second floor location is accessible by stairs to the upper floor or via an accessible ramp way on the Poplar Street side of the Central Street Train Station.
