Loren Hutter, MD

Loren Hutter, MD

Loren Hutter, MD, a Wilmette resident, has been the volunteer medical director of Links – North Shore Youth Health Service since 1995, a Board member since 1990, and a volunteer physician with the organization since 1985. His commitment to young people extends beyond his leadership of Links’ reproductive health care clinic: Dr. Hutter was recently honored for his work teaching the next generation of physicians.

On February 28, Dr. Hutter was honored by the Alpha Omega Alpha chapter at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine as this year’s Volunteer Clinical Faculty honoree. Alpha Omega Alpha is the national medical honor society. Its members are selected from the top quartile of students nearing graduation from medical school, chosen not only for their high academic standing, but also for leadership among their peers, professionalism and a firm sense of ethics, the promise of future success in medicine, and a commitment to service in the school and community.

The Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award is presented annually to a community physician who contributes with distinction to the education and training of clinical students. Honorees may be nominated by any clinical student, and the recipient is selected by student members of the Alpha Omega Alpha chapter.

In choosing Dr. Hutter, students noted that he is a truly passionate attending physician, committed to public health and his ongoing work with teens, young adults, and the uninsured. He was honored for his dedication to teaching, his inspiring insistence that his students and colleagues fight for their patients’ needs, and his example of how to build an impactful, fulfilling career as a physician.

Links – North Shore Health Service empowers young people to make informed, responsible decisions about their health, well-being, and sexuality. The reproductive health care clinic served over 600 teens and young adults last year under Dr. Hutter’s leadership. For more information, visit or call 847.441.6191.
