Hundreds volunteer at Community Harvest

Hundreds of residents gathered at the Crystal Lake Commons off of Route 14 Thanksgiving morning to donate or sort items, as well as lend support during the food pantry’s annual Community Harvest.

Families, city officials and even Santa stood in line, grabbed a bag or box of donated items and circled the wagon, sorting everything from canned tomatoes to pinto beans.

During the event, the food pantry collected more than 72,000 pounds of food and took in more than $19,000 in cash donations. More than 450 residents volunteered.
