Polls close in McHenry County

Polling locations in McHenry County for the primary election closed at 7 p.m.

There were a total of 3,750 absentee voters as of Monday, according to McHenry County Clerk Katherine Schultz. That includes 2,770 early voters.

By comparison, the county had a total of 3,233 absentee voters during the February 2010 election. That included 2,409 early voters, Schultz said. During the 2008 presidential election, a total of 6,235 absentee votes were cast — 4,720 being early votes.

“It’s picked up the last few days, but overall, it’s been pretty slow,” Schultz said.

The county has a total of 199,027 registered voters. There are 212 precincts, which are housed at about 148 locations.
