Babette Dean will entertain at The Birches Assisted Living on Feb. 23.

Singer Babette Dean of Winfield will provide entertainment at the new performing arts series titled, “Entertainment Thursdays,” at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at The Birches, 215 55th St., Clarendon Hills.

Dean has a large repertoire, and she enjoys performing in a variety of styles from many decades. A voice teacher at College of DuPage, Dean is also a member of two bands – Blues Shakers and the folk-inspired Cattails.

“Performing is therapeutic for me,” Dean said. “You really can sing your troubles away. And my audiences, especially in retirement communities, are so appreciative.”

Dean began her singing career harmonizing with her sisters in church. Her love of music led her to study voice and theatre, and she has a master’s degree in Voice Pedagogy from Northern Illinois University. Entertaining on cruise ships has taken her from Alaska to Mexico and through the Panama Canal.

The Birches Assisted Living provides caring and professional services that assure its residents safety, security and comfort. Located in Clarendon Hills, The Birches offers a full calendar of programs and activities designed to promote a stimulating and rewarding retirement lifestyle.

The public is invited, and reservations are requested. For more information, call Carol Weigel at 630-789-1135.
