Eid al-Adha prayer service draws hundreds

Hundreds of Muslims from Bolingbrook and surrounding suburbs, including Plainfield, celebrated Eid al-Adha today, or the Feast of the Sacrifice.

The day commemorates the biblical story of Abraham, who was on the verge of sacrificing his son to obey God’s command, when God interceded by substituting a ram in the child’s place.

Wednesday morning’s prayer, at the Bolingbrook Golf Club, was organized by the Muslim Association of Bolingbrook. It regularly draws about 1,000 Muslims from the Chicago area, said association co-founder Talat Rashid.
