Trustees approve bids for multiple road improvement projects

Bolingbrook residents can expect several new road projects to begin this spring throughout the village.

At Tuesday’s Village Board meeting, trustees approved a bid of $731,074 for James D. Fiala Paving Co. for the 2012 Street Resurfacing Program, which will include the paving of 24 streets.

 The streets include Bunker Hill Drive, Canyon Drive, Clover Lane, Commonwealth Court, Cottonwood Circle, Farm Gate Lane, FlagstaffRoad, Glen Lake Drive, Jill Lane, Nottingham Drive, Old Chicago Road, Old Stone Road, Potomac Court, Shenandoah Court, Shilling Court, Tecumseh Drive, Wildflower Way, Kingsbrooke Circle, Lacrosse Drive, Navajo Drive, Radcliff Drive, Richmond Drive, Springwood Circle and Territorial Drive.

Public Works Director Michael Drey said the repaving process will include stripping the top layer of asphalt and simply putting down a fresh coat. Drey said the village will use money from the general fund to pay for the project.

The village approved a second bid with Fiala Paving for $167,190 for the resurfacing of five streets in the Bolingbrook Historic District. The roads include Blackhawk Lane, DuPage Drive, Gettysburg Drive, Pinto Drive and Arrowhead Lane. Drey said the project will be paid using Community Development Block Grant funding.

Trustees also approved a bid for K-Five Construction for $372,952 for road pavement patching throughout the village. And lastly, trustees approved a bid with SKC Construction Inc. for $308,250 for the 2012 Village Pavement Crack Filling Program. Both projects will be paid using money from the general fund.

Drey said most of the projects will begin in the next couple of weeks.
