Eagles have big night against Knights

Aurora Christian is 3-0 after the Eagles opened their suburban Christian Gold Conference season with a 54-7 victory over Chicago Christian Friday night in Palos Heights. The Eagles head into Friday night’s game home game against Guerin outscoring opponents 140-9. Western Illinois-bound quarterback Anthony Maddie threw for 339 yards and five TDs against Chicago Christian and ran a punt return for a 50-yard TD. The former Joliet Catholic Academy signalcaller hit junior wide receiver Cory Windle six gimes for 189 yards and three touchdowns. Chicago Christian continues to look for its first victory when the Knights visit Aurora Central Catholic. The Knights have been outscored 152-21 in losses to Magengo, Momence and Aurora Christian. They could only muster 145 yards of offense against the Eagles. Running back Wally Findysz ran for 50 yards and scored the team’s lone touchdown against Aurora in the second quarter. Quarterback Calvin Visser added 45 rushing yards. Read the full story
