TribLocal High School Player of the Month

The High School Player of The Month contest is underway featuring deserving student athletes from local high schools. Liberty Auto City and TribLocal have teamed up to recognize student athletes and make donations to local schools. Contest sponsor Liberty Auto City will make a monetary donation to the winner’s school and the athlete will be honored with a plaque. The contest will end at 9 p.m Feb. 16. Registered users may vote once every 24 hours.

    Joe Salvi

    Senior, Joe Salvi is currently leading the Metro league in scoring with 47 goals and 33 assists for 80 points. He is a captain for a Corsairs Hockey team that posts an impressive 30-11-4 record this season. As of Jan. 27, Joe has played in 9 games and has recorded 12 goals and 6 assists for 18 points including 3 game winning goals. Joe was selected to the Metro All-Star game and recorded a goal and 2 assists in the game against the Metro West. Joe is a finalist to receive All-State honors.

    Robert Knar

    During a 4-game set in the Granite City Hills Holiday Classic, Mundelein junior guard Robert Knar set the school’s all-time record for three-pointers made. He hit 218 threes early in January. He averaged 21 points, 7.7 rebounds and 7.8 assists in the tournament. He also scored 34 against Warren High School
