Windy City Warriors Take on the Chicago Wheelchair Bulls
SHERRYMANSCHOTWESTERNDUPAGESPECIALRECREATIONASSOCIATION   03/11/10 08:37 AM   24 HITS

Straight off of securing their bid to the Wheelchair Basketball Nationals being held in Denver April 8-10th, the Windy City Warriors are taking on the Chicago Wheelchair Bulls adult team in a fast paced, high energy benefit game.

Usually the Warriors (ages 13-18) take on students and teachers at their fundraisers. This time they are taking on the more mature Bulls. Who will be stronger, faster, and have more skill? Will age bring experience? Will youth bring speed?

The Warriors want everyone to get in on the fun. Before the game, from 7-8pm, fans will have a chance to experience wheelchair basketball firsthand. And during the game, the fans have the opportunity to sway the scoreboard by purchasing points for their favorite team for only $1.

Tuesday, March 23rd
7-10pm (game starts at 8pm)

Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center
800 St. Charles Rd., Glen Ellyn
Tickets are $5, 13 and under $2
Proceeds will be used to offset the travel and tournaments costs incurred by both teams throughout their seasons.

The Windy City Warriors are the premier adapted sports group in the area. They have four Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Wheelchair Basketball State title championships under their belt and will defend their IHSA title for an unprecedented 5th title at the IHSA tournament in Peoria March 12-13th.

For more information, contact Kevin Hosea, WDSRA adapted sports coordinator and Windy City Warriors head coach at (630) 681-0962 ext 114 or kevinh@wdsra.com.

Wheelchair basketball is available for anyone with a permanent lower extremity disability; it doesn't require a wheelchair to get around. Participants with hip, knee or any other lower body disability are eligible for wheelchair basketball. Some people don't even know they're eligible.

WDSRA also offers: boccia, basketball, bowling, handcycling, power soccer, softball, swimming, sit volleyball, tennis, track and field, adapted weight lifting, and goalball.
