Cubs All-Star Third Baseman To Make Appearance At Cougars Game
SHAWN_TOUNEY   07/02/09 12:19 PM   316 HITS

Fans attending this Friday’s July 3 Kane County Cougars game at Elfstrom Stadium will be getting an action-packed evening of family-friendly entertainment – now with an added twist, courtesy of the Chicago Cubs.

Cubs All-Star third baseman Aramis Ramirez is scheduled to start a minor league rehab assignment in Geneva beginning this Friday, during the Cougars’ 6 p.m. game against the Peoria Chiefs, a Cubs affiliate. Ramirez, the 2008 Hank Aaron award recipient as the top offensive player in the National League, has spent time on the disabled list due to a shoulder injury. Ramirez is expected to be in the starting lineup at Elfstrom Stadium against the Cougars Friday evening.

Already a hot ticket, this Friday’s game will include a pre-game autograph session with Cougars players, as well as an extended-length patriotic fireworks show following the game. The Zooperstars will also be present to perform their popular in-game entertainment, and Chicago’s very own, the Jesse White Tumblers, will take the field immediately following the game.

Tickets are going quickly, but are still available for Friday’s game. An all-you-can-eat holiday picnic, featuring grilled steaks, barbeque pork chops and various side dishes, still has table spots remaining. The Cougars have also opened up their new Super Suite area as a general admission ticket. General admission tickets for the lawn area, as well as the left field deck, are also available. Fans can either stop by or contact the Cougars’ box office at (630) 232-8811 beginning at 9 a.m. tomorrow to order tickets for Friday’s game. Fans can also visit www.kccougars.com to order tickets.

The first 5K4Kim was held Saturday, June 27 at the McKee Marsh in Warrenville.  The walk was held in honor of Kim Kolinski Gillespie who has had a life-long battle with Von Hippel Lindau syndrome (VHL).  More than 50 people participated in the walk and raise over $13,000.  Proceeds from the walk will help offset Kim's ongoing medical bills.  To read more about Kim's story, please visit www.wecare4kim.com.  To learn more about VHL, please visit www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/von_hippel_lindau/von_hippel_lindau.htm
