Palos Park Flag Day Ceremony

The Knights of Columbus in conjunction with the Village of Palos Park hosted the annual Flag Day Ceremony for local residents on Thursday, June 4. The celebration was a family event for all ages. Special guests Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Lincoln, portrayed by Michael Krebs and Debra Ann Miller, along with Mayor John Mahoney, VFW 4861, and Civil War Re-enactors were on hand to celebrate Old Glory. The Great Lakes Navy Band performed patriotic tunes from the Civil War era. Palos Park residents had the opportunity to sit and listen to songs such as, “National Anthem”, “America the Beautiful,” and “Old Glory.” The event also featured the ceremonial process of changing the flag and honored those that served in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and the U.S. Coast Guard. This was an evening full of music, history, and patriotism.
