Maybe it's something in the water fountains at Conrady Junior High School in Hickory Hills.

The school was named in the Top 5 in the Southland for students' scores on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test. Then the school's math team won a recent competition and the boys softball and volleyball teams recently won conference championships.

Now comes the Jaguar Dance Team that wins its first competition of the year during a performance at Stagg High School in neighboring Palos Hills.

It was all part of Team Dance Youth — the youth division of Team Dance Illinois.

The Jaguar Dancers won the pom category for their thrilling performance to a vampire-themed medley of songs and earned a commendable 2nd-place finish in the open dance category while dancing to the hit "Behind Those Eyes" by the musical group 3 Doors Down.

Coaches Samantha Liddell and Jeff Orluck expressed tremendous pride in their dancers, saying they displayed a great deal of moxie and team spirit.

"The many hours of practice paid off, and the team already is looking forward to future competitions," Liddell said.
