Chiro One Wellness Centers donate $1,000 to George Hood’s ‘Ride IV Reasons’ to Help Support Youth and Marines.

Chiro One Wellness Centers recently teamed together with Guinness World Record spin cyclist, George Hood to raise funds for youth and marines through a special fundraiser – 12 ½ day spin challenge held in April. Though the 52-year-old Aurora man’s bid to reclaim the Guinness record is over and he fell short of breaking the current record, the overall ‘Ride IV Reasons’ initiative continues to raise funds for the Fox Valley United Way and the injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, which provides support to Marines injured in Afghanistan and Iraq and their families.

Chiro One Wellness Centers was on site at the event offering complimentary spinal screenings to guests and has pledged a $1,000 donation from proceeds collected during the week to support this worthy cause.

“George is an inspiration to us all,” states Chiro One Elite Team Ambassador Carleen Van Dahm. “We (Chiro One) are on a quest to touch and save lives through the healing power of chiropractic and George’s ‘Ride IV Reasons’ has been an example of what the human spirit can accomplish and endure. It has been an honor participating in George’s bid for the record and we’re really proud of him.”

More than a week after he began his Ride IV Reasons, Hood’s mind simply couldn’t tell his legs to pump the LeMond RevMaster pedals fast enough. “Do I wish I could have kept going toward 300 hours? Yes, of course,” stated Hood. “But as I’ve said all along, this ride isn’t about me—it’s about helping injured Marines and their loved ones and it’s about reaching out to support youth all throughout the Fox Valley. This experience took me to a whole new place that I look forward to sharing with others in the days and weeks ahead.”

52-year-old Hood is a retired Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent and currently works as a personal trainer. He has previously set the Guinness spin cycling mark twice—in July 2007 and May 2008, first at 111 hours, 11 minutes and 11 seconds and later at 177 hours and 45 minutes.
