Banistre Lienhart Wins 2 Gold, 4 Bronze Medals at Maccabi Games
Banistre Lienhart, 13, an 8th grader at Westview Hills Middle School and a member of the Hornet Swim Club, won two gold and four bronze medals at the Maccabi Games in San Antonio, Texas August 10 - 13.
The Macabbi Games are an annual Olympic-style event that brings Jewish teenage athletes together in a variety sports from across the country and around the world. Lienhart, who lives in Willowbrook, was a member of the Chicago delegation's swim team. Competing in the 14-and-under age group, he won his gold medals in the 100 butterfly with a winning time of 1:07.56 and the 50 backstroke with a time of 32:32. He won bronze medals in the 200 I.M., 50 fly, 100 back and 200 free relay. Lienhart also placed fourth in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 free, 50 breaststroke and 200 medley relay.
