St Joseph High School students Maggie Christopher and James Kastrantas have put together a village Severe Weather Awareness program. Maggie is interested in pursuing a career in Atmospheric Science and Meteorology. Both students are interested in educating the community on what safety programs are available in the Village of Westchester and also what Storm Chasing is all about. The program consists of a presentation by the Westchester Fire Dept followed by REED TIMMER from tornadovideos.net and professional STORM CHASER. Reed will present information on his experience and knowledge of Storm Chasing and the information learned from it. Earlier presentations will be made for Westchester Middle School students as well as at St Joseph High School for the students. An evening presentation is open to the public at 7:00 PM at St Joseph High School in the Theatre. Evening Program Admission is FREE Seating is LIMITED

Cuddle Comfort
With a stitch here and a stitch there, second graders from Prospect School’s Brownie Troop 143 in Clarendon Hills created dozens of cuddly, comfort pillows. The soft, labors of love will be delivered to sick children in area hospitals. Brownie Emily Hines says, “It was really fun and it was for the good of others, and I like that.” The troop had a great time completing this service project. It was part of a 3 month lesson on the fundamentals of sewing. The girls are now applying their sewing skills to stitch on their own Brownie patches including the newly earned "Stitch it Together" patch and creating their own hand sewn dolls.
