Gurnee Chamber hosts Mayor's luncheon
The Village of Gurnee Chamber of Commerce will host the first "State of the Village" address by Mayor Krysti Kovarik on September 23rd. The meeting will be held at the Keylime Cove Resort at 8am and is intended to be a snapshot of what the Village considers to be the most important issues in the Village. Scheduled to speak will be Mayor Kovarik, Village Administrator Jim Hayner, the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Public Works Department. Craig Hathaway, the Gurnee Chamber Vice Chairman said, "It's a unique opportunity for our local businesses to gather together to hear from the leadership of the community. In addition, it's a great forum for exchanging ideas for upcoming Village projects and initiatives." "One of the focus points of the Gurnee Chamber is to provide access to Village leaders and to create an opportunity for businesses to meet other business leaders," said Chamber board member Sue Oldenburg. The Village of Gurnee Chamber launched itself in May of this year, and boasts a huge amount of success in it's short existence. Seventy businesses have already joined as members, and attendance at meetings has been beyond expectations. "At the last membership meeting we had 55 attendees," said Brad Jenks, Chairman of the Chamber. "By the way, the cost to attend our meetings isn't monetary; you need to bring a guest" Jenks said. Using its membership to fuel growth, and having the support of Village Hall ensures that this new Chamber will be a huge success. "We very excited to be able to host the first ever "State of the Village" address, and we expect attendance to be the biggest we've seen", said Hathaway. The chamber can be reached at www.gurneechamber.com if you'd like more information or to make a reservation for upcoming events.
