ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS OPENS OFFICE AT COD

The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs recently opened an office at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn. The office, located in the Student Resource Center, Room 2046, is open on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Veterans who have recently been discharged from active duty, participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom, or are currently in the National Guard or a Reservist, may be entitled to VA benefits, including free VA health care, a $100 War Bonus, Illinois Veterans Grant, Post 9/11 GI Bill, VA Home Loan and others, said Bob Hazard, COD Veterans Association faculty adviser.

“We’re here to inform veterans about their eligibility for VA-related benefits. We can also help with filing for service connected disability claims,” Hazard said. “We’re pleased to have Veteran Service Officer Alfonso Rios on hand every Wednesday here at COD to assist our community’s veterans.”

For more information or to make an appointment, call Alfonso Rios at (630) 690-0917.
