Midwest Irish Music Competition

For three days in June (25th - 27th), the Midwest's finest Irish musicians will fill downtown Forest Park, IL with traditional music and fun. The occasion is the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil -- the annual competition that decides who will represent the Midwest at the world championship in County Cavan, Ireland, in August, 2010. Spectators are welcomed and can try Irish social dancing (ceili) to live Irish music to cap Friday evening and the close of the music competition on Sunday, June 27. The Midwest is home to a number of previous All-Ireland champions. Event co-chair Kell Chole says "No matter who wins the Midwest title in each category, the audiences for this exciting, beautiful music always win." Each year, different states can host the Midwest competition; so June 25-27, 2010 is a convenient opportunity for Chicago-area Irish music lovers to enjoy this unique event.
