2nd annual Blues on the North Shore set

The Blues are coming to the North Shore. Some of the best loved Blues artists in the world will be right here in your own backyard. They appear on main stages of blues festivals all over the world. But on June 12, 2009, the blues fun begins and ends at SPACE in Evanston. Orman Music & Media Group and Listen to This! Music Chicago present the Second Annual Blues on the North Shore, in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Earwig Music Company

On Friday, June 12, 2009, SPACE in Evanston, will showcase the best of the Mississippi Delta Bluesmen. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy a show with a historic lineup that includes six generations of distinguished blues musicians in a unique and intimate space.

The audience will be up close and personal with 93-year-old Grammy Award Winner, guitarist David “Honeyboy” Edwards, John Primer - the last lead guitarist in the Muddy Waters Blues Band, Dennis Binder - a classic keyboardist who recorded in the early 1950s, at the cusp of blues melding r&b and country, and Big Jack Johnson and the Oilers - the quintessential electric Delta Blues trio.

The Blue Four is the younger group of Chicago blues players who complete the Chicago connection. The band includes the ubiquitous Kenny Smith on drums, hard driving Chris James on guitar and rock steady Patrick Rynn on bass, and Bob Corritore blowing harmonica. Special guest, the formidable keyboard player Allen Batts, will round out this dynamic combo.

Our host for the evening will be none other than Bill Wax, Program Director and host of BB King’s Bluesville on Sirius/XM satellite radio. The concert will be filmed for MHZ Networks National Channel, MHz Worldview, of which Chicago’s WYCC digital channel 20.3 is an affiliate station. It will be broadcast in 2010. www.MHznetworks.org The concert will also be streamed on FrontRowMusic.tv, internet television channel and produced by Grammy Award Winning producer, Scott Shuman, www.frontrowmusic.tv

Dave Specter, one of the owners of SPACE, and himself an amazing blues guitarist said of last year’s event, “This was a great night. The best blues in Chicago right here in Evanston. And it was very clear that the packed house was fully enjoying themselves. It was great to see so many local, national and international blues musicians and fans who came out to last year's event. We’re very glad Blues on the North Shore is back this year.”

This is such a big, exciting weekend that we felt we couldn’t limit ourselves to Evanston only.
