Aabcor, Inc. awarded the 2009 Make a Difference Award from The Brain Injury Association of Illinois

Aabcor, Inc. received the 2009 Make a Difference Award from The Brain Injury Association of Illinois at the 2009 educational conference held Oct. 30-31, 2009, at Drury Lane Conference Center, Oakbrook Terrace. 

Headquartered in Darien, Aabcor Inc. is a social service organization providing consultation, resources, and support to survivors of traumatic brain injury, their families, and caregivers who live in one of Chicago area eight counties: Cook, DuPage, Lake, McHenry, Kane, Kendall, Grundy or DeKalb.

The 2009 Make a Difference Award was presented to Aabcor Inc.’s Founder and President Ahmed Basith and Vice President Judi Davey by the Brain Injury Association of Illinois’ Board Chair Ginny Lazzara and Executive Director Philicia L. Deckard.

“Aabcor has been doing great work for a number of years,” Deckard said. “It has been helping survivors of brain injury plan for their future and continue their education among other great things.”

For more than 12 years, Aabcor, Inc. has been an advocate for survivors of traumatic brain injury and stroke. Providing consultations, resources and support, Aabcor assists survivors’ educational and quality of life goals. Aabcor’s social workers and case managers conduct in-home assessments, prepare personalized care plans and provide continuing customer service and support.

“This award means a great deal to all of us at Aabcor,” Ahmed Basith said. “To be recognized by one’s peers and colleagues is a great honor, and we thank the Brain Injury Association of Illinois. The award inspires us to continue the vital work we so.”

The Brain Injury Association of Illinois is a not-for-profit, statewide membership organization comprised of people with brain injuries, family members, friends and professionals. The Brain Injury Association of Illinois is part of a network of brain injury associations across the United States and is a subsidiary of the national Brain Injury Association, Inc. which was founded in 1980.
